Success Together!

Theater!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Shrek the Musical recently performed at Camillus Middle School. What a joy to spend time experiencing the sights and sounds of such entertainment. The fun and laughter was matched by a musical experience that will be remembered for some time. Thank you to everyone involved in the production and for the many hours of work. Bravo!

Check your calendar! If you don’t have the West Genesee Middle School production of The Wizard of Oz scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m., Friday at 7:00 p.m., and/or Saturday at 2:00 p.m. of this week (11/21-11/23), you risk missing the “buzz”. This group has been working long and hard, and it will be something to experience. Don’t be caught next week in a conversation that you can’t join. Be at the WGMS musical for what promises to be a wonderfully entertaining experience!

PTA/PTOs Support our Children-Thank you!

Thank you to everyone involved in the WGHS PTSA Shopping Extravaganza this past Saturday that supported a great day of vendors, items, raffles, and more; all supporting PTSA activities. The ease and fun of holiday shopping is accompanied by community togetherness that adds to the fun of participating.

The PTA/PTO for each school support our children in many ways. Thank you for the culture and climate brought from each and the collective efforts to impact West Genesee! Wildcats come in many forms, and we are so fortunate to have these strong stewards for our students. Please consider becoming involved in your school's PTA/PTO!

Looking for Substitutes

Substitutes are an integral part of our organization. For many reasons, there are times when temporary coverage is needed in our classrooms, offices, buses, and more. In the past few years, professional development has been delivered in creative ways with an increased attention to fiscal responsibility.

Often, training is done during the day, locally, and with multiple staff members. As an addition to personal and family circumstances, the approach results in the need for responsibilities to be covered.

It is those who serve as temporary or “per diem” substitutes that are the “unsung hero” of our organization. Please consider being a part of that effort by applying to substitute in your area of interest. We welcome the opportunity to provide appropriate training and information toward increasing the pool of those available. It could be a way to become involved with our schools in a much different capacity. Click here for more information about substitute positions and applications.

Concert Season is Here

We are well into a season of many, many performing groups that will be showing their learning and skills. Congratulations to the members of the string, instrumental, choral, and visual arts that have been featured recently. We are incredibly fortunate to have a comprehensive experience in our schools. Part of that is the West Genesee Fine Arts programs available to our students.

Upcoming, we will have the opportunity to hear even more groups of all ages perform a mix of genre and range of repertoire. Please check out our website, calendars, mobile app, and blogs for specific dates, times, and locations to join these great events.

The Board of Education to Host Community Forum

Tonight our Board of Education is hosting a Community Forum. Parents, staff, and community members are all invited to join us. It will be held at the high school library starting at 6:00 p.m. (prior to the Board meeting that will start at 7:00 p.m.)

This is a great opportunity to meet the Board of Education and ask them questions about their role within the District in their continued effort to listen and engage community members on any range of topics of interest.

Personal Update

Let me offer my continued thanks for the welcome and support of the work we accomplish together. We are a “large district with a small district feel” and dependent on all of our parts for success. The relationship between the school and community is seen regularly at events such as the “Shopping Extravaganza”, presence at school functions, and in celebrations such as the Camillus/West Genesee Hall of Fame Induction.

It is my great pleasure to be a part of our community. This will be full time in upcoming days as my wife Julie and I,  along with the comings and goings of our four adult kids, complete our relocation to Camillus. I look forward to shopping, dining, shoveling (okay, not as much that), and many other parts of our unique and special community!
