It is hard to believe we are already into the month of May. With so many good things happening in our District, the last few months have flown by.
Raptor Update: Over the past few weeks I have been able to stop in and visit all of the schools and check out how the Raptor Visitor Management System is working. I am impressed with how the schools are handling screening visitors before they enter the building. Just a reminder, when you are visiting a school you will need to bring your photo ID in order to get into the building. Click here for additional information about the system.
A Swing-In to Remember: The 51st Swing-In Concert was held this past week at the high school. It was a great opportunity for the WGHS Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Band to join the honored guest, Denis DiBlasio. Click here to read more about this event.
Earlier in the day our elementary music students at East Hill Elementary School were fortunate to hear DiBlasio play with Mr. Dimmel’s high school jazz band. A great experience for students at all levels!
School Budget Hearing: This Wednesday, May 8, is our Annual School Budget Hearing, which includes an opportunity to hear from the Board of Education candidates. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the West Genesee High School Library with the Board of Education meeting to follow. All are invited to attend! Click here to review information about the proposed 2019-2020 budget.
Senior Ball: This coming Friday, May 10, is the Senior Ball! The school day will start off with a simulated DWI crash in the West Genesee High School circle followed by the Senior Breakfast; and then the seniors are off to prepare for their ball in the evening.
This is such a special night for our students, and it will continue at the All-Night Party to be held at the high school right after the ball. I want to thank the West Genesee High School PTSA, all of the parent volunteers, law enforcement, and administrators in advance for committing to help keep our students safe and happy.
As we get closer to the end of the school year, and the weather is getting warmer, it is a good time to remind students to stay focused on their schoolwork so they can finish off the year strong. Have a great week!
