I hope you are having a relaxing and enjoyable summer! There are some exciting things happening here in the District including some great Fine Arts Summer Camps, along with the anticipated start of the fall sports season. Here at the District Office we are very busy preparing for the start of the new school year.
A New Executive Principal at the High School: I am pleased to inform you that on July 24, 2019, the Board of Education appointed Wayne Ackles as the West Genesee High School Executive Principal.
After four rounds of interviews with students, parents, support staff, teachers, building principals, directors, District office administration, David Bills and me, and finally the Board of Education, he was the clear choice to lead West Genesee High School.
He has been an educational leader since 2004 including several years as Assistant Principal at Fairport High School and then serving the last four years as the Secondary Principal for Honeoye Central School District. He has led his current staff in academic intervention protocols, training in trauma informed instruction, and cyber responsibilities.
His official start date to join the West Genesee family will be on August 26. He is excited and looks forward to meeting the students, families, and staff of West Genesee. Please give him a warm “Wildcat” welcome upon his arrival. Click here for more information about the new Executive Principal.
Fine Arts Camps: This past week was exciting as the Summer Theatre and Choral Camps concluded with an awesome concert. Our students are so talented, and they never cease to amaze me with the high level of performance they present, at all levels. Great job! (Be on the look out for more information in August as the Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz, and String Camps prepare to perform for us.
Fall Sports Season is Around the Corner: A quick reminder that our Fall Sports tryouts and practices are going to start gearing up as we roll into August. Click here for specific information about tryouts, practices, dates, times, and locations.
I hope you continue to enjoy the beautiful summer weather, and I will connect with you again before school begins!
